The New Student Transition & Family Engagement Specialist supports the transition of new undergraduate and transfer students and their families. This role focuses on developing, coordinating, and assessing programs that foster student belonging and success. The specialist serves as a campus resource, collaborating with various departments to deliver services that support student retention and achievement.
What you'll do#
- Assist in planning and implementing spring and fall orientation programs for new and transfer students.
- Manage the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of orientation leaders and volunteers.
- Develop and maintain transition resources, including print materials, presentations, videos, and digital guides.
- Create, implement, and assess student and family engagement programs, such as Junior Moms' Weekend and Senior Dads' Weekend.
- Execute communication strategies to promote programs, events, and resources through various channels.
- Coordinate parent and family communications, including newsletters and email campaigns.
- Manage Class Council initiatives and collaborate with the Student Care Team on educational webinars.
- Support budget tracking, program assessment, and documentation for continuous improvement.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Student Affairs, Communications, or a related field.
- One to two years of experience in student affairs, orientation, family engagement, or a related area (graduate assistantship experience is considered).
- Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse populations and campus stakeholders.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends during peak programming periods and perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting event materials.
Location & details#
- Location: Notre Dame, Indiana, United States.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with required evening and weekend hours during peak periods.
- Sponsorship: Not available; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
