About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work on our fleet of robots. You will design assemblies, select and integrate electro-mechanical components, and help build and commission our hardware. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston.
What you'll do#
- Develop, build, evaluate, and test product solutions.
- Design rotary and linear motion actuators, enclosures, and cable harnesses for custom electrical components.
- Use SOLIDWORKS to craft parts, construct assemblies, and create well-dimensioned drawings using GD&T.
- Apply manufacturing techniques such as injection molding, CNC machining, metal casting, and sheet metal.
- Make engineering decisions by creating simulations, running tests, and conducting analyses.
- Collaborate with vendors globally to refine designs and deliver hardware.
What you'll need#
- Experience with electro-mechanical or mechanical systems from a prior internship, project, or lab research.
- Interest in the details of part design, including material selection and optimizing designs for manufacturing and assembly.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, building, and debugging.
- Ability to work in a prototype machine shop.
- Enthusiasm for learning new techniques and technologies.
