About the role#
The Security Operations Internship at Rockland Trust offers a hands-on opportunity to improve corporate security processes. You will work directly with security leaders to analyze workflows, develop professional documentation, and create scalable solutions. This role involves taking ownership of projects that strengthen the future of the Corporate Security program. You will also participate in a collaborative summer intern project to solve a real business challenge alongside other interns.
What you'll do#
- Map and document key Corporate Security workflows, including access control, incident reporting, and vendor management.
- Develop process flowcharts, swimlane diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Create RACI matrices and process inventories for critical security functions.
- Analyze current workflows to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and redundant steps.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to recommend process improvements and future-state workflows.
- Inventory existing security policies and forms, while assisting with the organization of a centralized SharePoint repository.
- Recommend version control and document governance standards.
- Identify and document key performance indicators (KPIs) for security operations.
- Develop reporting templates and dashboard concepts while supporting data collection and analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Business Administration, Operations Management, Criminal Justice, Security Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with an interest in process improvement.
- Excellent written communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to gather information through interviews and stakeholder meetings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Visio or other process-mapping tools is preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts is preferred.
