About the role#
The Internal Audit Intern role provides hands-on experience within a financial institution. You will work alongside audit professionals to evaluate internal controls, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance. This position offers a view of bank operations while helping you develop analytical and professional skills. You will also join a collaborative summer project, working with other interns to solve business challenges and present findings to leadership.
What you'll do#
- Perform control testing to assess compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Review documentation and evidence to validate audit conclusions.
- Participate in walkthroughs and discussions with business unit personnel.
- Prepare and maintain audit workpapers following internal methodology and professional standards.
- Draft audit observations and recommendations.
- Research regulatory requirements, industry practices, and emerging risks.
- Assist the Data Analytics & Automation Manager with audit trail documentation for analytic testing.
- Support the Quality Assurance Manager in executing the team's quality assurance and improvement program.
- Provide general administrative and logistical support to the Internal Audit team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Completion of at least two full years of undergraduate coursework, with rising junior status preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools like Power BI, Alteryx, or SQL is preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in banking, risk management, compliance, auditing, or data analytics.
