About the role#
The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) internship provides hands-on experience in financial crimes compliance. You will work with professionals who manage the bank's Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) programs. This role offers insight into how a financial institution detects and investigates potential criminal activity to protect customers and the broader financial system.
What you'll do#
- Assist team members with research and information gathering regarding customer accounts and transactions.
- Prepare and maintain case files, investigative notes, and supporting documentation.
- Compile information for regulatory reporting and periodic reviews.
- Conduct research using internal systems, public records, and external sources.
- Participate in quality control, data validation, and administrative tasks.
- Attend training sessions on fraud prevention, sanctions compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and business partners on department initiatives.
- Participate in a collaborative summer project, develop solutions, and present findings to business leaders.
- Develop an understanding of financial crimes compliance programs and risk management.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
