About the role#
Rockland Trust is hiring a Commercial Banking Intern for the summer of 2027. This full-time, on-site position is based in Peabody, Massachusetts. You will work alongside experienced banking professionals to gain hands-on experience in commercial lending, client relationship management, and financial analysis. This role is designed for students interested in exploring careers in banking, finance, and business operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist Relationship Managers with client portfolio management, report preparation, and financial analysis.
- Conduct research on industry trends, competitive activity, and client markets.
- Support the loan application process, including documentation, underwriting, and client onboarding.
- Maintain accurate client records and assist with reporting for internal meetings and executive presentations.
- Participate in data analysis projects to support business decisions.
- Attend team meetings and collaborate across departments on various initiatives.
- Conduct targeted research projects to support departmental objectives.
- Participate in customer outreach efforts to identify client needs and business opportunities.
- Partner with fellow interns on a collaborative project to solve a business challenge and present recommendations to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising junior or senior at an accredited college or university.
- A degree path in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and develop insights.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and business partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interest in commercial banking, financial services, and business operations.
- Previous internship or work experience in banking or finance is preferred.
- Familiarity with credit analysis or financial modeling is preferred.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset is preferred.
