    About the role#

    Riverside Research is looking for a Computational Electromagnetic Intern for the summer of 2027. You will join the Applied Mathematics and Physics Solutions team in Champaign, Illinois. This group focuses on computational electromagnetics, high-performance computing, and applications like antenna design and radar cross section analysis. You will work alongside experienced researchers on simulation tools and ongoing research projects.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop, test, and optimize tools that solve Maxwell's equations.
    • Contribute to code development, data analysis, and visualization tasks.
    • Attend group meetings to present your progress and findings.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program in Physics, Astronomy, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics, entering at least your junior year in Fall 2027.
    • 1-2 years of experience with Python scripting.
    • 1-2 years of experience with C, C++, or Fortran.
    • 1-2 years of experience using the Linux command line.
    • US citizenship is required.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Familiarity with electromagnetics fundamentals, Windows code development, Git, MPI, and OpenMP is a plus.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Champaign, Illinois.
    • The term is for Summer 2027.
