About the role#
RESPEC is looking for a Student Engineering Intern to join our structural team in Brookings, South Dakota, for the summer of 2027. This part-time position offers hands-on experience within our facilities market sector. You will work alongside full-time staff to learn how we provide professional services to our clients. Our team provides mentoring and coaching to help you develop your civil engineering skills through exposure to job sites, client projects, and our multi-discipline team.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design work.
- Perform calculations and simulations.
- Research assigned topics.
- Assist with field inspections.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in civil engineering.
- Coursework in steel, wood, concrete, and precast or prestressed concrete design.
- A working knowledge of fundamental structural engineering concepts.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Revit.
- Strong math and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- A detail-oriented approach and the ability to manage your time to produce accurate work.
- A team-oriented mindset.
