Job Description: RESPEC seeks a Student Engineer (Structural) Intern for our Summer Internship 2027 program in our Brookings, SD, office. This is a temporary part-time position. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience with a growing North American engineering consulting firm. This is a temporary part-time position. This hands-on design position is within RESPEC’s Facilities (Structural) Market Sector. This internship position will work alongside our firm’s full-time employees to learn how professional services are provided to our clients. Our experienced staff will provide mentoring and coaching to our interns to allow development of civil engineering skills and knowledge. Interns will get exposed to our clients, job sites, communities, as well as collaborate with our RESPEC multi-discipline team on public and private sector clients. Additional responsibilities include:Assist with design workPerform calculations and simulationsResearch topics as assignedAssist with field inspections
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have the following:Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in civil engineeringPreferred qualifications include the following:Solid time management skills and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in an efficient mannerCoursework in steel, wood, concrete, and precast/prestressed concrete designGood working knowledge of fundamental of structural engineering conceptsSelf-motivated and detail-orientedStrong problem-solving and math skills Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingTeam player who strives to provide quality workSome proficiency with Autocad Revit
