About the role#
As an Underwriting Summer Intern at RGA, you will gain hands-on experience in risk management and insurance. You will work alongside our team to assess mortality risk and learn how data influences insurance policies. This role focuses on building your professional skills while you contribute to real projects within a global reinsurance company.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a core training program to learn the fundamentals of underwriting.
- Review small new business cases and complete assigned projects.
- Assist with medical research for the Underwriting Manual and support ongoing underwriting specialty reviews.
- Learn to navigate various systems and applications used in our daily operations.
- Collaborate with other interns and employees on group and individual tasks.
- Attend lunch and learn sessions to explore medical and insurance topics in more detail.
- Participate in continuing medical education related to underwriting.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Strong analytical skills to gather information, evaluate facts, and draw conclusions.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships.
- Authorization to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
