About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern supports our operations and engineering teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. You will work under the guidance of an experienced engineer to apply technical fundamentals to production processes, equipment, and workflows. This is a full-time, on-site role for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support hands-on process improvement, problem solving, and documentation on the manufacturing floor.
- Partner with manufacturing engineering, operations, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and EHS teams to complete projects.
- Apply Ralliant Business System lean manufacturing methods to support continuous improvement and kaizen initiatives.
- Assist with standard work development, including time studies, capacity analysis, line balancing, and workflow evaluation.
- Collect and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, constraints, waste, and improvement opportunities.
- Design or improve fixtures, tooling, gauges, workstations, and material flow solutions.
- Create or update layouts, drawings, bills of material, and technical documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action for process, quality, and productivity issues.
- Work directly with operators and technicians to understand process challenges and develop practical, sustainable improvements.
- Prepare project updates, data summaries, and final presentations for leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Anticipated graduation date between Winter 2026 and Spring 2028.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and problem-solving methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
- Exposure to CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across production, technical, and office roles.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple activities and deadlines.
- Willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor and learn from operators.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and respectful workplace practices.
