About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern supports our operations and engineering teams in improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. You will work under the guidance of an experienced engineer to apply technical fundamentals to production processes, equipment, and workflows. This is a full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027 based in Plainville, Connecticut.
What you'll do#
- Partner with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and EHS teams to complete assigned projects.
- Apply lean manufacturing methods to support continuous improvement kaizen events.
- Assist with standard work development, including time studies, capacity analysis, line balancing, and workflow evaluation.
- Collect and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, constraints, and improvement opportunities.
- Help design or improve fixtures, tooling, gauges, workstations, and material flow solutions.
- Create or update basic layouts, drawings, bills of material, and technical documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for process, equipment, and quality issues.
- Work directly with operators and technicians to understand process challenges and develop practical, sustainable improvements.
- Prepare project updates, data summaries, and final presentations for leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Anticipated graduation date between Winter 2026 and Spring 2028.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and problem-solving methods.
- Ability to collect and analyze data using Microsoft Excel.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with people in production, technical, and office roles.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple activities and deadlines.
- Willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor and learn directly from staff.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and respectful workplace practices.
