About the role#
Radiant is seeking a Tooling Engineer Intern to join our team in El Segundo. You will work on production tooling for our portable nuclear microreactors, helping us build the systems needed to fabricate and assemble complex structures.
What you'll do#
- Work with design and manufacturing engineers to create production tooling.
- Design, analyze, and build tools that support semi-remote operations for reactor fueling and defueling.
- Find and manage suppliers for tooling components and fabrication needs.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience with custom machine design, including electromechanical systems, motors, actuators, linear rails, bearings, and lifting or rigging equipment.
- A solid grasp of hand calculation methods and finite element analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with design and operations teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based 100% on-site at our headquarters in El Segundo, California.
- This position involves access to technology subject to U.S. export controls. Offers are contingent upon your ability to serve in compliance with these regulations.
