Field Engineering Intern

About the role#

The Field Engineering Intern position at R.T. Moore offers students majoring in engineering or construction management the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field. This is a paid, full-time, rolling internship based on-site in Indianapolis, Indiana. Interns will be assigned to specific projects based on business needs and will work with a mentor to develop professional skills and gain exposure to industry standards.

What you'll do#

• Support Field Engineers, Project Managers, and Field Superintendents with daily project operations.
• Assist with project layout using Trimble knowledge.
• Interpret engineering drawings and provide technical assistance in the field.
• Perform material take-offs and estimating tasks.
• Review project drawings and coordinate necessary design changes.
• Assist with project coordination and safety initiatives.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a 4-year Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Environmental) or Construction Management program.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems independently and manage multiple priorities.
• A positive attitude and a strong desire to learn.
• Self-motivation to take on new challenges.

• Working Conditions: This role involves both indoor and outdoor work, requiring exposure to various weather conditions and construction environments. Candidates must be capable of wearing required personal protective equipment, including hard hats and boots. The role requires physical activity such as standing, walking, climbing, balancing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
