About the role#
This internship role is based in the Advanced Cellular business group. You will contribute to the development of power amplifiers for RF modules used in wireless communication applications. You will work on designs that address customer demands for 5G, LTE, carrier aggregation, multiple antennas, filters, and power management.
What you'll do#
- Design power amplifiers and investigate new architectures or circuits.
- Perform schematic capture, circuit simulations, and layout of RF PA integrated circuits, modules, and evaluation boards.
- Validate PA design and module layout performance using commercial 2D or 3D EM modeling and Electro-Thermal Solver.
- Balance efficiency and linearity requirements with constraints on size, cost, footprint, and schedule.
- Adapt designs to meet customer requirements for ruggedness, ESD, and reliability.
- Use signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters to collect lab data and validate modeling accuracy.
- Provide feedback for the next design cycle.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Coursework or experience in Analog/RF circuit design.
- Coursework or experience in Electromagnetic or Microwave Engineering.
- Exposure to RF measurement equipment including spectrum analyzers and network analyzers.
- Experience with software tools such as Cadence, ADS, FEM, HFSS, and Momentum.
- Experience with electro-thermal simulation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach to design and product delivery.
