This role focuses on the optical architecture group, which is responsible for translating abstract quantum information protocols into physical system designs and modeling quantum optical systems to determine hardware requirements. Internships are offered on a rolling basis for durations of 3 to 6 months.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to ongoing optical architecture technical projects.
- Write prototype software implementations for controlling and simulating optical networks within photonic quantum computers.
- Apply results from quantum information theory, network design, and optimization to improve architecture designs.
- Develop and discover new approaches to photonic quantum computing.
- Simulate and benchmark different protocols, while documenting and communicating your results.
What you'll need#
- A degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Currently studying or recently finished a postgraduate degree, with a preference for PhD candidates.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Julia.
- Familiarity with collaborative software development tools, such as GitHub.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Preferred knowledge includes quantum optics, photonic hardware, switch network design, optimization, and graph theory.
