About the role#
The Materials Engineering Internship at Polaris is a 12-week program based in our Wyoming, Minnesota product development center. You will work 40 hours per week in our materials lab, gaining experience across multiple engineering facets to help define your professional interests. This role offers the chance to contribute to real-world projects that impact our lab capabilities and vehicle development.
What you'll do#
- Set personalized goals to drive growth within the Materials Engineering and Testing department.
- Lead at least one major project focused on technology and process development or improvement.
- Develop skills in failure analysis and fractography.
- Conduct metallurgical lab work, including material characterization, optical microscopy, mechanical testing, and report writing.
- Gain exposure to non-metallic analysis using techniques such as FTIR, TGA, and DSC.
- Expand your knowledge of materials and processes used in recreation vehicles.
- Learn how vehicle components and assemblies are validated.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Ability to complete the full 12-week internship at 40 hours per week.
- Familiarity with metallurgical laboratory equipment and materials processing, such as heat treatment, forging, metal stampings, plastic injection molding, and die-casting.
- Proven strength in analysis, creative problem solving, communication, and leadership.
- A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- Previous internship, co-op, or leadership experience is preferred.
- Current employees must be in good standing and former employees must be eligible for rehire.

- Location: Wyoming, Minnesota.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $24.00 to $32.00 per hour, plus overtime eligibility.
- Interns are responsible for their own transportation to the office and securing housing for the duration of the program.
