Machine Learning Engineer Intern - Planning

About the role#

Plus is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer Intern to join the Planning team. This role focuses on advancing autonomous driving capabilities through deep learning models, specifically targeting trajectory prediction and behavior forecasting for autonomous trucks.

What you'll do#

• Modify and expand an existing Scene Transformer framework to generate a diverse set of ego-vehicle trajectories for ambiguous scenarios.
• Formulate and experiment with recursive, autoregressive, and multi-step losses to stabilize long-horizon trajectory rollouts.
• Mitigate mode collapse to ensure generated paths are distinctly varied and kinematically feasible.
• Design metrics to evaluate trajectory diversity, safety, and long-horizon accuracy against real-world driving logs.

What you'll need#

• Expertise in trajectory prediction, behavior forecasting, and multi-agent motion modeling.
• Experience training large-scale models using self-supervision, contrastive learning, representation learning, or scene-level modeling.
• Practical experience with PyTorch, PyTorch Lightning, or JAX.
• Experience with uncertainty estimation, multi-modal prediction, and probabilistic modeling.
• Understanding of AV stack components, including localization, perception, tracking, prediction, and planning.
• Strong skills in debugging, experiment design, data analysis, and failure-mode investigation.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Computer Engineering.
