Computer Vision Engineer Intern

About the role#

Plus is seeking a Computer Vision Engineer Intern to join the Perception team. This role focuses on advancing autonomous truck technology through the development of high-fidelity, multi-modal 3D scene reconstructions. You will work on creating realistic sensor data and digital twins to support the testing and validation of virtual driver software.

What you'll do#

• Develop and optimize pipelines to reconstruct high-fidelity 3D representations of driving routes using camera, LiDAR, IMU, and GPS data.
• Apply state-of-the-art neural rendering and view-synthesis techniques, including 3D Gaussian Splatting and NeRFs, to manage complex lighting, weather, and dynamic objects.
• Integrate reconstructed environments into the perception testing framework to stress-test object detection, tracking, and edge-case scenarios.
• Ensure geometric consistency and alignment between different sensor modalities within reconstructed digital twins.
• Collaborate with Simulation and Perception teams to transition research prototypes into scalable tools for production deployment.
• Generate 3D/4D scene reconstructions to simulate driving environments.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of machine learning principles and methodologies.
• Experience implementing deep learning models in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Jax.
• Preferred: Experience with 3D vision and deep learning projects involving object detection, motion tracking, or semantic segmentation.
• Preferred: A publication record in relevant venues such as CVPR, ICLR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, AAAI, or SIGGRAPH.
