About the role#
We are looking for an Engineering Student to join our team in Halifax for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will work on the QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Program, a major healthcare infrastructure project. We are open to students seeking a 4-month or 8-month placement starting in January 2027.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings, work scopes, and trade quote reviews.
- Verify material quantities, labor hours, and rates.
- Participate in project meetings and monitor workforce productivity.
- Manage deficiency logs, issue warranties, and coordinate progress photos.
- Update field drawings and produce as-built documentation.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and supervise sub-trade work.
- Verify site conditions against project drawings.
- Maintain project records and site documentation.
- Perform layout of site lines and grades using a total station.
- Create and update project schedules using Primavera P6 EPPM and AutoCAD.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil or Mechanical Engineering program.
- A strong desire to work in a construction environment.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet applications, and drafting software.
- Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.

- Compensation: $21.37 to $31.33 per hour, based on experience.
