About the role#
PCL Construction is hiring a Building Systems Student for the Toronto District within our Canadian Buildings Division. This is a paid, full-time position for the Winter 2027 term, with options for a 4 or 8-month duration. You will work on-site at our projects in Oakville or Toronto.
What you'll do#
- Review contract documentation, including architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
- Identify potential delays or interferences before project start-up.
- Set up documentation and communication systems with project managers.
- Maintain shop drawing logs for electrical equipment and material submittals.
- Coordinate with trades to ensure timely submissions and re-submissions.
- Review and comment on shop drawings before consultant submission.
- Gather input from mechanical and electrical subtrades regarding delivery dates.
- Develop and maintain installation schedules.
- Perform quality control inspections alongside consultants and the Building Systems Coordinator.
- Assist with construction planning and the layout of temporary services.
- Support the team with temporary services procurement.
- Verify that materials and field activities meet technical and code requirements.
- Assist with project close-out tasks like commissioning, operation manuals, and inventory management.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering programs.
- A strong desire to work in the construction industry.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and drafting software.
- Prior field construction experience is an asset.

- Locations: Oakville and Toronto, Ontario.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Compensation: $21.37 to $31.33 per hour, based on experience.
