About the role#
Parker Center Animal Clinic offers a Veterinary Technician Student Externship and Preceptorship Program. This program is for students currently enrolled in an accredited Veterinary Technician school. You will work directly with our veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to gain practical experience in a clinical setting. We provide mentorship, hands-on training across various procedures, and exposure to both routine and emergency care.
What you'll do#
- Assist with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Administer medications and vaccinations.
- Monitor anesthesia during surgeries.
- Conduct laboratory tests like bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Take radiographs.
- Care for hospitalized animals.
- Educate pet owners on preventive care.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Veterinary Technician program.
- A strong interest in animal care and a desire to learn.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Enthusiasm for patient care.
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and medical terminology is helpful.
