About the role#
Parker Center Animal Clinic offers a flexible externship program for DVM students to gain practical experience in a contemporary small animal practice. This program is designed to bridge the gap between clinical education and professional practice, helping students build confidence and competence before graduation. You will work alongside a veterinary team, receive mentorship, and have your performance evaluated to meet college requirements.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Assist in the management of medical cases and provide wellness care.
- Scrub into surgeries and participate in all aspects of patient care.
- Polish technical skills and produce accurate medical records (SOAPs) within the time constraints of a busy clinic.
- Practice client communication and problem-solving skills under veterinary supervision.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Ability to maintain professional conduct and follow the Veterinary Practice Act.
