About the role#
As a Mechatronics Engineering Intern, you will work with our hardware team to design the electrical architecture of our mobile manipulation platform. You will focus on the power, wiring, and communication buses that tie actuators, sensors, and compute into a functional robot. You will write bring-up and validation code for the subsystems you build, ensuring clean interfaces for our software engineers.
What you'll do#
- Design electronics layout, harnessing, and cable routing for systems that move.
- Integrate actuators, sensors, and compute components.
- Write bring-up, validation, and diagnostic code for the hardware you build.
- Debug electromechanical issues at the bench and on the robot.
- Work with vendors as we move toward production.
What you'll need#
- Previous internships or club experience in robotics or electromechanical systems.
- Experience integrating motor controllers, encoders, and sensors on real hardware.
- Ability to write the code that brings hardware up and proves it works.
- Proficiency in CAD, 3D printing, and general fabrication.
- Comfort with ambiguity, fast iteration, and full ownership at an early-stage startup.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in San Francisco, California.
- Terms available: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.
- We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
