About the role#
This paid internship provides hands-on experience in accounting, tax preparation, and financial reporting. You will work on-site in Norfolk, Virginia, gaining practical training in daily accounting operations.
What you'll do#
- Perform bookkeeping for business clients using QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and record journal entries.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and tax returns for individuals, businesses, and fiduciaries.
- Use data analysis to provide insights and recommendations.
- Assist with tax research and the preparation of related documents.
- Communicate with clients to gather information and answer inquiries.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited program with a major in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel.
- Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Must be located in Virginia and enrolled or recently graduated from a Virginia school.
