About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern at JLG, an Oshkosh company, you will support our engineering team by designing reliable, functional, and cost-effective vehicle control software. You will work on various projects ranging from simple tasks to complex analytical assignments. This position is full-time and based on-site in San Francisco, California.
What you'll do#
- Write quality, maintainable C++ and Python software for robotic systems.
- Develop and test software that controls robot motion and autonomous behavior.
- Work with vision sensors, robot arms, and other robotic hardware.
- Debug software and hardware interactions on physical systems.
- Prepare and maintain software documentation.
- Participate in peer reviews, design discussions, and testing activities.
- Troubleshoot or reprogram vehicle systems.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with C++ or Python through coursework, clubs, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with software engineering concepts and data structures.
- Experience with at least one robotics specialty, such as controls, motion planning, perception, or autonomy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize your workload, and maintain confidentiality.
- Detail-oriented approach and flexibility to adapt to changing needs or tight deadlines.

- This role involves a mix of office-based tasks and physical activity in field or production environments, which may include walking on shop floors, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
