About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Garner, Iowa. You will work on-site to assist engineers with various mechanical functions, including design, production, and testing. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting projects through their lifecycle, from initial layout to the assembly floor.
What you'll do#
- Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software.
- Select parts and components that balance weight, cost, and reliability.
- Follow projects on the assembly floor during prototype, pilot, or production builds.
- Run engineering calculations for weight distribution, stress analysis, and performance.
- Create and manage Engineering Change Notices within the Product Lifecycle Management system.
- Design, model, and test mechanical systems that integrate with vehicles.
- Consult with internal departments, suppliers, and customers to solve technical problems.
- Update bills of materials in the Product Data Management system.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Previous internship or work-related experience.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in mechanical design.
- Experience with CAD systems like CATIA or Pro-E is a plus.
