About the role#
The Industrial Engineering Intern will join the Manufacturing Engineering department at McNeilus to support production goals and continuous improvement efforts. You will work under the guidance of the Manager of Manufacturing to solve real-world operations problems and provide technical support to production teams.
What you'll do#
- Audit and update work instructions, routings, and bills of materials.
- Improve material handling methods and solve operations problems using Lean tools.
- Participate in the Continuous Improvement Journey.
- Perform workstation and cell analyses to improve productivity and quality.
- Assist with plant layout and workstation design.
- Develop methods for fabrication and machining processes.
- Provide input for manufacturing fixtures and tooling.
- Create documentation for new product launches and use ERP software.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Manufacturing, Welding Engineering Technology, Industrial, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field.
- Ability to work for the full duration of the summer 2027 term.
- Preference for a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software is preferred.
- Exposure to ERP systems like JD Edwards is preferred.
- Experience in welding, machining, fabrication, or Lean and 5S concepts is considered a plus.
