Data Scientist Student

About the role#

The Advanced Analytics team at OLG is seeking a Data Scientist Student to help design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI-powered web applications. This role focuses on translating experimental models and Generative AI concepts into functional, user-facing products that support business workflows.

What you'll do#

• Build and prototype Generative AI applications using Python, LLM APIs, LangChain, and vector databases.
• Design and develop full-stack web applications using frameworks like Streamlit, React, FastAPI, or Flask to integrate AI models.
• Collaborate with analysts and senior analytics professionals to translate business problems into AI-driven web solutions.
• Develop and deploy interactive dashboards, internal tools, and AI assistants.
• Perform prompt engineering, data wrangling, and visualization to improve model quality.
• Use SQL to retrieve and prepare data from OLG’s Hadoop-based data lake for model training and inference.
• Apply software engineering best practices, including version control with Git, documentation, and testing.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a post-secondary co-op program.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience or coursework in data science, machine learning, or analytics.
• Exposure to Generative AI frameworks and tools such as LangChain, OpenAI API, or Hugging Face.
• Experience building web applications or interactive tools.
• Solid understanding of data workflows using Pandas and NumPy, as well as SQL.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.

• Term: Fall 2026 (September – December 2026).
• Status: Full-time student position.
