About the role#
As a Technician Extern in the Outpatient Pharmacy, you will gain practical, hands-on experience in pharmacy functions. You will help support a safe and effective drug distribution system within our hospital. This position is aligned with the Ministry of Health's Enhanced Extern Program.
What you'll do#
- Perform technical and administrative tasks related to unit dose dispensing.
- Handle prepackaging of medications.
- Participate in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Pharmacy Technician program from an accredited community college.
- Demonstrated knowledge of drugs and the ability to recognize the limitations of your scope of practice.
- Some related pharmacy experience is preferred.
- Typing and computer skills are an asset.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and prioritization skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Markham, Ontario.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Part-time, temporary role until approximately December 2027.
- Schedule: Days and evenings, Monday through Sunday, including statutory and school holidays. Schedules may change based on operational needs.
