About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position involves working under the direction of a preceptor to gain experience in pharmacy operations while supporting the team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, including accurate prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures and legal requirements.
- Provide patient care by offering immunizations, point-of-care testing, and educating patients on vaccines.
- Field medical questions and offer counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Manage inventory tasks such as cycle counts and returns.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
