Process Improvement Engineer Internship

About the role#

The Clinical Transformation department at Northwell Health focuses on large-scale innovation and operational excellence. This internship provides exposure to operational research, improvement science, project management, and change management. You will work alongside specialists to optimize healthcare delivery using methodologies including Predictive Analytics, Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA, and Discrete Event Simulation. You will gain practical experience in system operations and process improvement as it relates to patient care.

What you'll do#

• Collect and prepare data relevant to departmental operations.
• Conduct studies to assess the efficiency, economy, and effectiveness of hospital procedures and policies.
• Assist management in the facilitation of new programs and procedures.
• Support administrative tasks and research projects related to system operations.
• Analyze data for review and presentation to support departmental goals.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment in an undergraduate junior, senior, or graduate program in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Operations Research.
• Prior administrative experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
