About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Northwell Health, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. This role involves performing clinical tasks, supporting medication management, and handling administrative duties within the pharmacy department.
What you'll do#
- Prepare medications for inpatient orders and outpatient prescriptions, including typing necessary labels.
- Assist with the preparation and labeling of compounded sterile applications.
- Provide drug information to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and patients.
- Conduct monthly medication room reviews and inspections, including the removal of outdated or recalled drugs.
- Manage inventory by replenishing floor stock and verifying invoices against incoming drug shipments.
- Maintain control records for manufactured items and prepare reports for the pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A current permit to practice as a Pharmacy Intern in New York State.
- Zero to one year of relevant experience.
