About the role#
As a Nursing Student Technician with FlexStaff, you will provide direct patient care and support the healthcare team in a clinical setting. This role involves performing a variety of technical tasks and activities of daily living to ensure quality patient outcomes and a safe, therapeutic environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with unit admission and discharge processes.
- Obtain, document, and report patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, weight, and height.
- Perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, and simple wound dressings.
- Monitor patients and report significant changes in condition to the Registered Nurse and healthcare team.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and respond to patient requests or call lights.
- Use proper body mechanics and equipment when lifting, moving, or transferring patients.
- Communicate pertinent information clearly to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Support the team during emergency situations and assist with restrained patients per hospital policy.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a BSN program with completion of a fundamentals of nursing course including a clinical practicum.
- AHA Basic Life Support certification.
