About the role#
The Software Engineer Intern assists with the design, development, and testing of software applications and tools for our products. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain practical exposure to GUI development, embedded programming, and software-hardware integration. This position is for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and development of GUI-based applications and test programs.
- Support the development of software libraries for Windows, Linux, and embedded operating systems.
- Participate in testing and debugging software that interfaces with hardware devices.
- Work with engineering staff to integrate software with test equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and meters.
- Document software features, test results, and development processes.
- Learn and apply coding standards, design practices, and version control tools.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related program.
- Understanding of software engineering concepts, including procedural and object-oriented programming.
- Familiarity with C, C++, Python, and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and provide documentation upon hire to verify U.S. Person status.
- Preferred: Coursework or projects in embedded software development, GUI programming, TCP/UDP Ethernet programming, or hardware/software integration debugging.
Location & details#
- Location: Bohemia, New York.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September through December).
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift with a discretionary 9/80 schedule.
- Compensation: $17.50 to $27.00 per hour, based on academic year standing.
