About the role#
Nokia is seeking an AI R&D Engineer Co-op to contribute to the development of advanced artificial intelligence solutions. This role focuses on leveraging Generative AI, Deep Learning, and machine learning to support products ranging from analytics and security to core telecommunications capabilities. You will work on research and development projects that drive innovation across the organization.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and deploy advanced AI and machine learning models to analyze and interpret complex data.
- Implement machine learning models to enhance applications such as search, forecasting, and text mining.
- Build agentic-based systems for tasks including anomaly detection and root-cause analysis.
- Optimize machine learning models and data pipelines to improve performance, scalability, and resource efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s or PhD program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field at an accredited US institution.
- Proficiency in machine learning, optimization algorithms, and deep-learning techniques.
- Practical experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Familiarity with search engines, vector databases, and their underlying algorithms.
- Experience working with big data frameworks including Spark, Kafka, and Cassandra.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

- Location: Sunnyvale, California (on-site).
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 8, 2026, to December 18, 2026).
- Status: Paid, full-time co-op position.
