    About the role#

    NNE is hiring engineering students for a paid Summer 2027 internship. You will work alongside professionals in Process, Mechanical, Automation, and IT/OT engineering. This role provides hands-on exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing projects. You will learn how teams design, optimize, and maintain systems in a regulated production environment while building your technical and professional skills.

    What you'll do#

    • Support process, mechanical, automation, and IT/OT projects.
    • Assist engineering teams with project tasks and improvement initiatives.
    • Participate in design, data collection, analysis, and technical evaluations.
    • Conduct equipment assessments, field walks, system inspections, and troubleshooting.
    • Help develop and review engineering deliverables, drawings, specifications, and reports.
    • Contribute to process improvement and cLEAN initiatives.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges.
    • Assist in developing automation and data solutions following S88/S95 standards and FDA guidelines.
    • Participate in validation, commissioning, testing, and qualification activities.
    • Attend project meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions.
    • Complete training on pharmaceutical manufacturing and engineering standards.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or Industrial Engineering, or Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
    • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
    • Coursework or project experience in process engineering, mechanical design, automation, PLCs, SCADA, data analytics, or IT infrastructure.
    • Experience in team projects, student organizations, or research.
    • Competence with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • An interest in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or advanced manufacturing industries.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, on-site internship located in Clayton, North Carolina.
    • Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the office.
    • Housing, relocation assistance, and travel stipends are not provided.
