About the role#
The Office of Legislative Affairs supports the Commissioner, the Governor’s office, and the Legislature. This team manages the flow of information, coordinates meetings, conducts site visits, and organizes conferences. The office also handles research on environmental and legislative matters and assists in resolving concerns between legislative entities and the department. This is a paid, full-time internship for Winter 2027.
What you'll do#
You will work with the director and staff on legislative projects. Your responsibilities include:
- Researching and tracking specific bills.
- Recording issues in the legislative tracker.
- Attending meetings and taking notes virtually.
- Drafting responses for referrals.
- Assisting with the dissemination of information.
- Coordinating meetings and conducting site visits.
- Organizing and attending conferences.
- Helping resolve problems between legislative entities and the department.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment at an accredited university or college.
- Coursework in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Pre-Law, or Environmental Studies/Sciences.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Experience researching and working on legislative bills.

- Location: Trenton, New Jersey.
- Term: February 8, 2027 to April 30, 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Hours: Up to 35 hours per week.
- Compensation: $19 to $24 per hour, depending on education level.
