About the role#
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an Environmental Services Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This position supports the Bureau of Safe Drinking Water within the Division of Water Supply and Geoscience. You will work on-site in Trenton, New Jersey, for up to 35 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist with drinking water compliance tasks.
- Manage data and update system inventories.
- Help develop compliance forms and guidance documents.
- Perform violation determinations to ensure public water systems meet state regulations.
- Conduct site visits as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment at an accredited university or college.
- Coursework in Physical, Environmental, Chemical, or Biological Sciences, Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy, Physical Geography, or various engineering disciplines including Civil, Sanitary, Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Agricultural, Mining, Industrial, or Bio-resource Engineering.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in data management.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A valid driver's license if vehicle operation is required for your duties.
Location & details#
- Location: Trenton, New Jersey.
- Term: February 8, 2027, to April 30, 2027.
- Compensation: Paid position with an hourly rate between $19 and $24 based on education level.
- Residency: New Jersey residency is required within one year of employment per the New Jersey First Act.
