About the role#
Nexus Engineering Group is hiring for an Electrical/Substation Engineering Intern or Co-Op for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside engineers and designers to support projects for utilities, industrial facilities, and critical infrastructure. This role provides hands-on experience in the design and construction of electrical substations, along with technical mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Complete calculations of limited complexity, including lighting distribution, conduit/cable tray fills, voltage drop, and feeder sizing.
- Develop and maintain Electrical Single Line Diagrams, Schematic/Interconnection Diagrams, and Conduit/Cable Schedules.
- Support electrical design activities for transmission and distribution substations.
- Assist in the development of Power System Study models for short circuit, load flow, and arc flash calculations.
- Help experienced Electrical and Substation Engineers with daily tasks as requested.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work within diverse teams.
- Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software is preferred.
- Familiarity with power system modeling software like ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower is a plus.
