About the role#
The Clean Water Fellowship is a two-year rotational program for recent college graduates interested in the water industry. You will work across various departments to learn how the Sewer District manages wastewater treatment and stormwater. You will rotate through areas such as Engineering, Construction, and Watershed Programs. After completing your rotations, you may choose a department to focus on during your second year, depending on work availability. This position is a full-time, paid role.
What you'll do#
- Participate in structured rotations to build knowledge of wastewater treatment, engineering, and operations.
- Perform entry-level engineering and analysis work.
- Support process evaluations, sampling, data analysis, and reporting for wastewater treatment activities.
- Assist Watershed Programs with environmental inspections, GIS data management, and monitoring.
- Review technical deliverables like design drawings, specifications, and memoranda.
- Use Excel, SharePoint, and GIS for data evaluation.
- Conduct research, field observations, and quality control activities.
- Assist with Capital Improvement Planning, budgets, schedules, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with internal departments, consultants, contractors, and community partners.
- Complete an innovation or continuous improvement project for a specific department.
- Participate in professional development workshops, networking, and mentorship programs.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree in Water Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Status as a recent graduate within the past two years or a current college senior graduating before the start date.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, operational discipline, and collaboration.
- A coachable mindset and a strong willingness to learn.
Location & details#
- Location: Cleveland, Ohio.
- Work Modality: This position may be authorized for hybrid work, which can be discussed during the interview process.
- Physical requirements: The role involves tasks like walking, standing, and lifting up to 100 lbs. You may work in various environments, including outdoor settings, confined spaces, or near large machinery.
