About the role#
As a UX/UI Front End Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience maintaining the Unifi Design System documentation site. You will work with engineers and designers to learn how a design system is managed at an enterprise scale. This is a part-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Update existing documentation on the Unifi site to align with the current state of the design system.
- Convert design and accessibility guidelines into machine-readable formats to support AI-assisted development workflows.
- Perform front-end maintenance on the documentation site using Angular.
- Participate in code reviews and follow Git version control practices.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Working proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular.
- Coursework or personal project experience with Angular, as this role involves working within an existing codebase.
- Familiarity with Git or GitHub.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Comfort with asking questions and receiving feedback.
- An interest in developer experience, technical documentation, and AI-assisted tooling.
- A basic understanding of or interest in web accessibility (WCAG) is a plus.

- This role is on-site in Madison, Wisconsin, or Lincoln, Nebraska.
- The internship term is rolling.
