About the role#
The Medicaid Policy and Communications Internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public sector communications, stakeholder engagement, and policy messaging. You will work alongside Medicaid policy staff and communications partners to translate complex program information into clear, accurate, and accessible materials for external audiences.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of external communication materials, including fact sheets, FAQs, talking points, and presentations.
- Assist with drafting and maintaining chapters of the Medicaid Provider Manual.
- Conduct background research to support Medicaid messaging and stakeholder education.
- Help identify key messages and potential communication gaps for various audiences.
- Assist with communication materials for community partners, advocacy organizations, and external stakeholders.
- Support stakeholder engagement activities, including meeting preparation, agenda development, and coordination of follow-up items.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university, or recent graduation within the last year.
- An interest in public health, health administration, communications, journalism, political science, or related fields.
- Experience drafting written materials for broad audiences.
- Ability to translate complex information into plain language.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, or similar tools.
