About the role#
The Branch Operations Strategy & Innovation team shapes the future of our branch network. We partner across the company to develop long-term strategies, support organizational transformation, and ensure our branches evolve with member expectations. As a Summer Associate, you will report to the Manager of Strategy & Innovation and work alongside strategists, change leaders, and portfolio managers. This 12-week program runs from May 2027 to August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research to support strategic priorities, emerging opportunities, and executive decision-making.
- Analyze industry trends, competitive dynamics, and market developments to identify implications for our branch network.
- Assess strategic opportunities related to branch transformation, workforce effectiveness, member experience, and operational excellence.
- Develop executive-ready presentations, business cases, and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Support strategic planning, innovation efforts, and leadership workshops by synthesizing findings and documenting recommendations.
- Contribute to initiatives focused on improving branch performance, employee effectiveness, and member engagement.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Business Administration (MBA), Strategy, Finance, Economics, Management, or Organizational Leadership.
- Anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Experience analyzing data, conducting research, and developing recommendations to solve business problems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within cross-functional teams.
- Experience developing executive presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of strategic planning frameworks, business case development, and market analysis methodologies.
- Familiarity with financial services, banking, branch operations, or member experience strategy.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship located in Vienna, Virginia.
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM ET.
