About the role#
This year-round internship provides operational support to the Compliance Department, specifically focusing on non-lending compliance. You will work within a team-driven environment to research consumer protection laws and regulations issued by federal and state agencies. The role involves participating in meetings, collaborating across business units, and developing your technical and analytical skills while working under established policies.
What you'll do#
- Research and analyze federal and state laws, regulations, and pending legislation.
- Prepare written summaries and communications regarding compliance issues.
- Draft and review procedures, disclosures, member communications, and industry alert summaries.
- Respond to compliance inquiries from various business units.
- Support business strategy and initiatives across the organization.
- Participate in formal and informal industry training.
- Provide day-to-day operational support for the Compliance Department.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Juris Doctorate (JD), LL.M, MBA, or other graduate-level program.
- Working knowledge of financial products and services.
- Understanding of federal and state consumer protection laws impacting financial institutions.
- Experience with legislative or regulatory research and tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or AllRegs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- Locations: Vienna, Virginia or Pensacola, Florida.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (minimum 20-25 hours per week).
- You must remain enrolled in a degree-seeking program throughout the duration of the internship.
