    About the role#

    The Litigation Intern supports our legal team in protecting the environment and public health. You will work directly with attorneys on cases involving climate pollution, chemical safety, and clean water safeguards. This role involves collaborating with communities impacted by environmental injustice and contributing to active litigation and policy advocacy.

    What you'll do#

    • Research and write legal memos for rulemaking proceedings and case development.
    • Interview NRDC members and prepare standing declarations.
    • Draft and review portions of pleadings and legal briefs.
    • Prepare comments for submission to legislative bodies or administrative agencies.
    • Help craft proposed legislation to address environmental and public health concerns.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a 2L, 3L, or LLM student.
    • Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral communication skills.
    • A demonstrated ability to work with people across different social identities and backgrounds.
    • A commitment to public service, equity, and justice.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Chicago, Illinois.
    • Term: Spring 2027.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: This is a paid position with a total stipend of $4,000 for 140 hours of work.
    • Commitment: Part-time, with a minimum requirement of two days (14 hours) per week.
