About the role#
The Foundation Relations Intern will support the Institutional Giving team within the Development Department. This role offers exposure to nonprofit development, climate philanthropy, and environmental advocacy. You will report to the Senior Manager, Foundation Strategy and work on projects that directly support our fundraising priorities.
What you'll do#
- Support ongoing projects and priorities for the Foundation Relations Division.
- Analyze team meeting trackers to identify trends and provide recommendations on time management.
- Research companies and develop a pipeline of prospects for the corporate giving strategy.
- Provide recommendations for fundable projects based on prospective donor interests.
- Improve data hygiene within the Salesforce database.
- Support donor engagements and meet with program staff to determine alignment with prospective funders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Initiative, proactiveness, and creativity.
- Experience with research or data analysis.
- Project management or problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A commitment to NRDC’s mission, values, and DEI principles.
- Experience with Salesforce (or another CRM) and Asana (or another project management tool) is preferred.
Location & details#
- This internship is based in Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Washington, DC.
- This is a 10-week, full-time position (35 hours per week) during Summer 2027.
- The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring interns to be in the office 3 days per week.
- This is a paid position with a stipend of $10,000 paid bi-weekly.
