About the role#
We are looking for a Harness Design Intern to join our electrical engineering team. This role focuses on advancing your design skills while building new tools to improve our workflows. You will explore how AI agents can review drawings, identify errors, and interact with our program APIs to design harnesses. We want you to help us answer these questions while contributing to our mission execution.
What you'll do#
- Create harness drawings, BOMs, and maintain system diagrams.
- Work on new tooling and improve existing harness design workflows.
- Experiment with AI to update and modify drawings.
- Specify connector and crimp part numbers to match system designs.
- Gather feedback from AIT, EE, and Mechanical teams for design improvements.
- Collaborate with electrical engineering to ensure compliance with signal integrity, grounding, and shielding requirements.
- Release documentation into PLM with ECO/DCO.
- Define electrical test criteria for flight and test harnesses.
- Support or oversee test execution and documentation.
What you'll need#
- Experience creating harness drawings in any software.
- Proficiency with the Linux terminal, basic git tools, and python programming.
- Ability to use LLMs with MCPs.
- Attention to detail and strong reading comprehension.
- A desire for ownership of your work.
- Ability to build harnesses from scratch, which helps inform technical decisions like strip lengths, crimping, and heatshrink selection.
- Enthusiasm for working in a team environment with new challenges each week.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in San Jose, California.
- The term for this position is Summer 2027.
- This position is paid.
