About the role#
This internship focuses on the development, maintenance, and improvement of technical tools and automated workflows that support project and portfolio management. Approximately 90% of the work involves automation, data pipelines, reporting, and tool administration, while the remaining 10% involves light project coordination. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy optimizing processes and reducing manual work through digital solutions.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and maintain automated workflows using SharePoint, Lists, Excel, and Microsoft 365 tools.
- Develop and manage data pipelines, including extraction, transformation, validation, and refresh processes.
- Create dashboards and reports to ensure accurate and clear data presentation.
- Configure and administer work management tools like SharePoint, Planner, Jira, or Smartsheet.
- Build self-service tools, templates, and forms for intake, approvals, and portfolio management.
- Develop lightweight scripts in VBA or Python to streamline data processing.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify process gaps and implement technology-driven solutions.
- Document tools, workflows, and processes, including user guides and troubleshooting documentation.
- Participate in the selection and implementation of a new project portfolio management platform.
- Assist with project documentation such as status updates, RAID logs, and schedules.
- Support the coordination of project meetings, follow-ups, and communications.
- Ensure consistent application of PMO templates, standards, and governance processes.
What you'll need#
- 2 to 5 years of experience in project coordination, PMO operations, business analysis, or a tooling and automation role.
- Demonstrated ability to map processes and translate them into automated workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Jira, Smartsheet, Plainview, Monday, or other PPM platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project delivery frameworks.
- Experience with VBA, Python, or DAX.
- CAPM, PMP, or Agile certification is preferred.
- Ability to identify inefficiencies and create scalable improvements.
- Comfort working with data, systems, and automation logic.
- Capability to manage multiple tools, updates, and small requests simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively with project managers, technical teams, and business partners.
- Initiative and reliability in tool and data delivery.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Operations Management.
Location & details#
- This is a remote, full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
- The pay range is $24 to $26 per hour.
- This position is not eligible for sponsorship, including OPT or H1B visa status.
