The Middle East Institute is seeking interns to support the Policy Center’s research, programming, and administrative operations. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the work of scholars while gaining experience in policy analysis and the study of Middle East regional dynamics.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and report on recent advancements, trends, and news within the research field.
- Conduct research on specific topics as requested by scholars, including fact-checking, editing, and formatting for various publications.
- Provide administrative support, such as managing correspondence, coordinating with external organizations, and handling travel logistics.
- Assist in planning and organizing events, including managing speaker invitations, preparing background materials, and overseeing logistics.
- Support scholars with social media outreach efforts.
- Participate in team meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or a recent graduate in Middle East studies, international affairs, political science, or a related field.
- Minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Proficiency in data analysis software, such as Excel or similar spreadsheets, and research tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Proficiency or fluency in Arabic is considered a plus.

- Location: Washington, DC (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 7, 2026 – December 11, 2026).
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
