About the role#
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) offers internships to provide students from diverse academic backgrounds with practical work experience within an international health agency. Interns are assigned to specific projects based on their skill sets and the needs of the department. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Washington, D.C. for the Summer 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Review literature and conduct literature surveys.
- Undertake web research and data collection on specific subject areas.
- Organize data and documents.
- Assist in drafting, formatting, and editing policy briefs, tool kits, guides, manuals, hand-outs, brochures, and reports.
- Participate in on-going departmental projects.
What you'll need#
- Candidates must be in their final academic year of a bachelor's degree, currently enrolled in a master's or doctoral program, or have graduated within the last two years.
- Applicants must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application.
- Fluency in one of PAHO's working languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French) in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of specialized computer programs, such as statistical software like XLStat, is considered an advantage.
- Academic background in Public Health, Health Administration, Biology, Communications, Human Resources, Statistics, International Relations, or Psychology.
